What to get a 3 (almost 4) year old for xmas....and what is too much?

Oh wow that already seems too much to me. TV in the room is not a good idea for anyone in my opinion. Get him something simple that he can be creative with. My nephew loves the $1 coloured plastic bowls my sister got him from Ikea over all the other expensive toys he has been spoiled with.
