Help,what's the difference between bug and defect?

I'm a tester and i'm stuck in understanding the two words bug and defect.Once a time i was asked what's the difference and i didn't know.I'm trying looking up in the dictionary,but i hardly understand.Anybody knows,your suggestion will be appreciated.
